Bachelor of Environmental Health Science (Hons) is a four years program including 26 weeks of professional placement. Students are exposed to the public health, environmental protection, food safety, legal procedures and occupational safety and health courses.

They also will undergo practicum attachment at various established institutions healthcare industry to expose themselves in practical on-field including sampling procedure and legal enforcement. In addition to the overriding themes, operational skills are essential for environmental health practitioner. The course focuses on particular areas such as communication and teamwork.

Environmental health practitioners are dedicated expert to protecting public health by monitoring and recommending solutions to reduce pollution levels. They use specialized equipment to measure the levels of contaminants in air, water and soil, as well as noise and radiation levels.

At the end of this programme, students should be able to:

  • Explain basic knowledge and concepts in Environmental Health Science.
  • Apply knowledge and skills to assess and monitor the environment, workplace and human health.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate environmental health science programme and strategies.
  • Demonstrate professional, managerial, interpersonal and social skills.
  • Communicate effectively in verbal and written forms with peers, healthcare professionals, stakeholders and advocacy of the community at large
  • Apply information and communication technology (ICT) and information management system to enhance their environmental and occupational health practices.
  • Interpret critically environmental health numerical data and problems to provide solutions based on evidence
  • Demonstrate leadership and collaborating skills with healthcare, professionals and communities.
  • Apply broad business and real-world perspectives in workplace and everyday activities and demonstrate entrepreneurial skills.
  • Adhere to the legal and ethical principles and the professional code of conduct in environmental health science

Malaysian candidate

Obtained:

Malaysian University English Test (MUET) Band 3 or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (5.5) / Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (500)

AND

a) Passed Matriculation / Pre-University/Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) programme or equivalent qualification with minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) 2.33 in TWO of the following subjects:

– Biology

– Physics/Mathematics

– Chemistry

OR

b) A-Level Programme or equivalent qualification with minimum grade D in TWO of the

following subjects:

– Biology

– Physics/Mathematics

– Chemistry

OR

c) Recognised Diploma with minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.75 in related field;

OR

d) Recognised Diploma with CGPA less than 2.75 in related field and a minimum of 3 years (36 months) working experience in the related field.

OR

e) Passed in Accreditation of prior Experiential Learning (APEL) examination English proficiency for foreign student Candidate should obtain IELTS (5.5) / TOEFL (550) paper-based or equivalent.

 

International candidate

International Student Candidates should have IELTS (5.5)/ TOEFL (550) paper-based or equivalence.
