Students of this programme are expected to complete this course in three years. It will be conducted in six semesters. This programme emphasizes in theoretical approach and practical approach and will be conveyed in several methods including classroom teaching, lecture demo, practical session in skill lab and gymnasium and also clinical visit to hospital and physiotherapy / rehabilitation centre.

In the first year students will be taught mainly the university subjects and basic subjects such as human anatomy and physiology that act as a fundamental to core subjects that will be taught at second and third year.

The fundamental core subjects for this programme are such as exercise therapy, biomechanics and electrotherapy. Students will also be taught on specific core subjects such as musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory, neurology, paediatric, geriatric, sport injury, community health and women health that work to complement the fundamental core subjects.

During end of second year and third year students will be attach to hospitals, medical centers, sports centers and physiotherapy / rehabilitation centers to perform their clinical training.

At the end of this programme, students should be able to:

  • Demonstrate fundamental knowledge in physiotherapy.
  • Demonstrate appropriate assessment techniques and interpret findings, and to formulate specific treatment plan and conducting appropriate treatment and intervention.
  • Demonstrate sensitivities and responsibilities towards the community, culture and environment.
  • Re-evaluate the patient/client management, adhere to the legal, ethical principles and the professional code of conduct in physiotherapy as well as to identify the scope and limitation of professional practice.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, their family/caregiver, peers, healthcare professionals and the stakeholders at large and are able to demonstrate leadership, interpersonal and social skills and also capable of collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
  • Recognise emergency events, complications and refer appropriately as well as to Demonstrate problem solving and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Participate in research related to physiotherapy.
  • Demonstrate ICT, entrepreneurial skills in their practice.

Malaysian candidate

Pass SPM or equivalent with FIVE (5) credits including the following subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • 1 Science subject (Biology/Physics/Chemistry/General Sciences/Applied Science); and
  • Any 3 other subjects;
  • Pass Bahasa Malaysia & English

International candidate

GCE/O-Level or equivalent with FIVE credits (Grade C) in the following subjects:

    • English
    • Mathematics
    • 1 Science subject (Biology/Physics/Chemistry/General Sciences/Applied Science); and
    • Any other 2 subjects

Proficiency in English (Required for those whose medium of instruction is no in English language.)

Pass International English Language Testing Services (IELTS) with a minimum of 5.5 orTest of English as a foreign language (TOEFL) with a minimum of 550
